What We Look For In a MBA Student

What We Look For In a MBA Student

Who Are We Looking For?

Each year we seek to build a class of students who can engage collaboratively as a community of learners toward excellence in research, scholarship, creative expression and community engagement. While we understand that our students come with different backgrounds and experiences, they all share the following common characteristics:

Intellectual Curiosity and Analytical Aptitude

The cornerstone of achieving success lies in one’s commitment to and passion for a high standard of excellence. We look for individuals who are discovery-driven and who have a passion for collaboration and lifelong learning.  Our course design and our desire for student-faculty interaction depend upon the active participation of innovative students who can assess, analyze and act upon complex information focused on real-life problems.  The MBA and Graduate School Admissions Committee will review your prior academic performance, the results of the GMAT or GRE, and, if applicable, TOEFL or IELTS scores, as well as the nature of your work experience. There is no particular previous course of study required to apply; you must, however, demonstrate the ability to master analytical and quantitative concepts.

Ethics and Community Engagement

While academic rigor is vital to student success, active collaboration of the entire N.C. A&T community is also critical.  That’s why we look for students who exhibit the highest ethical standards demonstrated by honesty, trustworthiness and high moral character.   The right candidate must have respect for their colleagues and be eager to share their experiences as well as value and integrate diverse perspectives, life experiences and cultures of others.  Our promise is to prepare highly skilled and ethically conscious business leaders through innovative instruction, professional and community engagements, and relevant faculty scholarship.
